Cord Blood Banking

• Complete Required Documents
  Electronic documents were emailed to you from your Family Clinical Consultant via DocuSign. The forms are required to complete the banking process.
   

• Collection Kit 
  Bring your ViaCord Collection Kit to the hospital on the day of your baby's birth and give it to your medical team to perform the cord blood collection. Call ViaCord when the collection is complete to arrange for pick up. 
   

  
   

Newborn DNA Guardian

• Complete Required Documents
  By completing the required documents for Cord Blood Banking, you have fulfilled your customer responsibility for Newborn DNA Guardian.
   

   

Adult Whole Genome Sequencing 
Testing will not begin until the following customer responsibilities have been completed.

• Review and Sign your ViaCord Service Agreement
  The electronic form was emailed to you from your Family Clinical Consultant via DocuSign. The electronic Form must be completed before we can process your order.  
   
• Activate your Genome Medical account
  Look for an email from Genome Medical with the subject line: ViaCord Customers: Schedule your required pre-test consultation with Genome Medical. If you cannot locate your email, please call Genome Medical  877-688-0992.
   
• Schedule Your Required Pre-Test Consultation
  Genome Medical's online scheduler lets you quickly pick a date and time that works best for your busy schedule.  Watch how easy it is   
   

Cancellation Fees

A $150 non-refundable fee will be charged if ViaCord’s Cord Blood Banking service is discontinued prior to baby's birth. Newborn DNA Guardian does not incur a cancellation fee. If Whole Genome Sequencing service is cancelled after documents are processed by Genome Medical a $150 cancellation fee will be charged.


Payments
The credit card on your account will be charged automatically at the time of your delivery and upon successful processing and storage of your newborn’s stem cells. One charge will appear on your credit card statement. The charge represents your cost for all of your ordered products. If you have opted for one of our flexible monthly payment plans, your payment will be deducted each month on the date of your child’s delivery. Please note your cord blood annual storage fee will be billed automatically to the credit card listed on the 10th of the month your child was born. A statement will be sent to the home address associated with your ViaCord account.

• Cord Blood Collection Kit Shipment 
  Collection kits are shipped to arrive by week 27 in the pregnancy. If you are due less than 13 weeks away, the kit will arrive shortly.
   
• Adult Whole Genome Sequencing Kit
  The DNA saliva collection kit will be sent to the address provided with the order. You'll receive an email with tracking information when the kit ships. Easily collect and return the sample using the simple instructions and prepaid shipping envelopes included in the kit.
   
• Stem Cell Collection Results
  ViaCord will send your newborn's cord blood collection results report approximately 6-8 weeks after the stem cells have been processed and stored at ViaCord's Lab. 
   
• Newborn DNA Guardian
  A sample of your newborn’s DNA will be safely and securely stored at ViaCord’s Processing Lab at the same time your baby’s stem cells are processed and stored. It would only be released for testing with the authorization of your physician and you.
   
• Genomic Test Results 
  Genome Medical will review your Whole Genome Sequencing results with you in ~ 8-10 weeks, answer any questions and discuss next steps.
