Customer Responsibilities
- Complete Required Documents
Electronic documents were emailed to you from your Family Clinical Consultant via DocuSign. The forms are required to complete the banking process. By completing the required documents noted above you have fulfilled the customer responsibilities for Newborn DNA Guardian.
- Collection Kit
Bring your ViaCord Collection Kit to the hospital on the day of your baby's birth and give it to your medical team to perform the cord blood collection. Call ViaCord when the collection is complete to arrange for pick up.
- Cancellation Fee
A $150 non-refundable fee will be charged to your credit card if ViaCord’s Cord Blood Banking service is discontinued prior to delivery. Newborn DNA Guardian does not incur a separate cancellation fee.
ViaCord Responsibilities
- Collection Kit Shipment
Collection kits are shipped to arrive by week 27 in the pregnancy. If you are due less than 13 weeks away, the kit will arrive shortly.
Stem Cell Collection Results
ViaCord will send your cord blood and cord tissue collection results report about 6-8 weeks after your newborn's collection arrives at ViaCord's Lab.- Newborn DNA Storage
A sample of your newborn’s DNA will be safely and securely stored at ViaCord’s Lab at the same time your newborn’s stem cells are processed and stored. Your newborn's sample will only be released for testing with the authorization of your physician and you.
Payment: What to expect
The credit card on your account will be charged automatically at the time of your delivery and upon successful processing and storage of your newborn’s stem cells. One charge will appear on your credit card statement. The charge represents your cost for all of your ordered products. If you have opted for one of our flexible monthly payment plans, your payment will be deducted each month on the date of your child’s delivery. Please note your cord blood annual storage fee will be billed automatically to the credit card listed on the 10th of the month your child was born. A statement will be sent to your home address.
